Listen - I've been in your shoes

I understand what it’s like to feel like the pressure is building up and you are about to explode. In 2015, I burned out from full-time law enforcement - just months after receiving Officer of the Year. On paper it looked like I was at my peak - but off-duty, I was falling apart. 

Everything triggered and bothered me.

I was in a terrible mood all the time and felt exhausted.

The truth is that the trauma I had experienced before and throughout my career caught up with me.

I knew that ‘sucking it up because it’s what I signed up for’ wasn’t going to be enough.

Not only was my emotional distress affecting my personal life, I was afraid that if I didn’t take action, it would eventual cloud my clarity and as you know, milliseconds can change your life in this field. 

So I took action and stepped away. And while I didn’t go back to full-time law enforcement, I have still managed to thrive using the very tactics I teach my clients. 

MOST FIRST RESPONDERS FALL INTO THE SAME TRAP
  • Adding more to their plate, constantly looking to improve their performance - but not really working on their mindset
  • Advocating for the wellness of others, but not really going deep to work on themselves as well

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING:

She made it clear that our goal was to get me to place where I could self coach and be better version of me.

I was a lost in my thoughts and emotional and physical pain. My doctor told me to seek out a mental health specialist as it was affecting my physical healing. I couldn’t find anyone locally to me that didn’t have a conflict of interest, small town problems. I saw AK on TikTok an thought what can it hurt? I was open to her methods but a little skeptical too. Being a police officer and the way I was raised just kept telling me: “Forget the ‘woo woo’ stuff and suck it up. Life is full of pain, just live with it. Push it down, say a prayer, put on a happy face and move on.”

I really wanted to change so I went all in. I gave it all a try. Some of it was weird for me and some of it really hard. AK was insightful enough to see some of my struggles and tweaked my assignments it to fit my individual needs. She didn’t BS me and she made it clear that our goal was to get me to place where I could self coach and be better version of me.

I’m not 100% my old self, and I probably won’t ever be, sometimes you just can’t go back to the way things were, but you can adapt and keep moving forward to a good place. What I do know for sure is that I’m a better mom and wife as well as a better police officer now. My doctor and physical therapist have noticed a difference in my physical healing as well.

I actually look forward to going to work… most day. I’m still working on it. There are still bad days at work and at home. I sometimes can feel that “the darkness closing in” but I know there’s a way out now that’s not full of pain and dread.

I think AK’s insights and technique’s should be taught in every police academy and in every police department. Even though I started the program as a result of some specific incidents, looking back on my 13 year career I could have used some of this starting with the day I was sworn in.

I found myself enjoying time with others, and had a new focus on my me time, instead of numbing out.

Before working with AK, I was struggling to just feel like a human. I was angry all the time, had very little patience for people, and was isolating to avoid as much human contact as possible.

AK was able to bring me back to the activities I enjoy, and helped me hit the reset on my mind, while creating new goals and a new mindset. I found myself enjoying time with others, and had a new focus on my me time, instead of numbing out.

Since completing the program, I have quit my job because I realized there was no opportunity for growth or healing while stuck in the environment. I set daily goals and have allowed myself grace on the days my body just needs to rest. AK taught me it’s okay to listen to my body, and I don’t have to beat myself up for taking a break. I want to personally attest to the benefits that A.K. will provide to first responders. (yes, even
our second responders, the firefighters too 😉 ) After 22 years of service, I had reached a point
where I just felt like I had no more emotional capacity to continue. I had no words for what I
was dealing with, but I knew I needed help. Those are cuss words in our world, and most of us
think that if we admit it, that’s the end of our career. After finding A.K. on social media, I
